Once upon a Time.......
There was a cat Named Stombo. Stombo was a real Asemmer. Stombo was the terror of our neighbourhood. Stombo was as strong as an Ox and never has been sick. He gave his last breath on the respectable age of 20 years. Even though we adored him we always craved for a "real" cat. Unfortunately the lot of them looked to …. “nice” In the previous Century back Joyce thought it was a great idea to give me a Cat for my Birthday. 1993 in came Christy (Black Shadows Christy). She was a vicious looking creature. Eyes Piercing through me, a fur as has she rolled through bushes, her size me think that she was fed growing hormones and her muscles where sure to be the result of steroids! Now THAT was the kind of Cat I was looking for! My Quest was at and end. Someone pointed out to us that Chris was a real Looker and I was pretty stupid not to take her to a show. Thus, 1995 I entered the world of Showcats. What a strange world I found my self in. Man and woman only talking about their cats. Even as I didn't understand one single bit about what was happening Chris did rather well. This to the irritation of some. Like I cared, Chris had the X-factor!
The rest is future History. The addiction kicked in. As many before us we where infected with this affection. One cannot be alone thus we became members with the FIFe. To be more precise we register our kittens with FIFe Mundikat. For FIFe shows in the Netherlands I’m A Steward. Every Maine Coon addict in the Netherlands should be member of the Dutch Maine Coon Association “The RMC”. For this club I’m the Lead editor of their Quarterly magazine “It’s Coontime” and a member of their Breeding Advisory Board. In line of this Board I designed and developed their Online test database. As you might expect, the cats are part of our life. In time our house is transformed to a true Cat Kingdom. Rooms with everything a cats needs, wants or thinks of in his short naps. Our (fenced off course)garden is to be seen as their hunting grounds. |
In the time we where showing I learned much about the Breed. One breeder guided us as we made our steps on the path to become breeder. As Chris was neutered we needed another Coon. As it was nearly Joyce’s Birthday guess what I bought her. Right! A nice looking red Coon. Thus 1995 arrived Nusha (Fortunata’s Own Danusia S.). Our first litter though, arrived not sooner then early 1997.
