Raining Coon

With much love and dedication we nurse our little Coons to happy healthy kittens. The Kittens are born between and grown up next to our Dogs, other Cats & Grandchildren. Our Sires & Queens are selected on base of condition (e.g. health), type, disposition and pedigree.

Socialisation period
A well socialised kitten will adapt easily in a new environment. The first 10 weeks is without any doubt the most sensitive period of their live. During this period they will build up 80% of their character.

A part of their life in which they start relating to other animals like (humans, dogs etc.) But also getting acquainted with the formal sounds of the day, like cars, Vacuum cleaners, Music, Children etc. Also learning their place within the hiearchy off cats. After their first vaccination they are allowed to enter our garden. Their born-in nosy nature gets the best of them at that point. They start "hunting" after insects & start sniffing plants & bushes.

Needless to say we spend a good deal of our time on this. Our experience they adapt more easily when arriving in their new homes. Most of the time their their curious nature makes them looking over the place immediately. Just as we want them to be.

Health issues & vaccination

Before breeding our Queens and Sires they are tested on FELV, FIV & PL. Testing and screening on HCM & PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) is scheduled when they reach the age acquired for testing. Other tests (such as HD or SMA) will be performed when there is reasonable doubt.
